Rainoldi Legnami is transforming industrial waste into clean energy

Discover how Rainoldi Legnami is transforming industrial waste into clean energy. This historic company in the Italian mountains, has developed a fully integrated zero-kilometer bioenergy system that turns its own sawmill by-products, mainly wood chips, into electricity and heat through advanced drying and gasification technology.

The result is a highly efficient circular process that generates around 6 million kWh of renewable energy every year, significantly reducing environmental impact and supporting more sustainable production. This energy powers key operations, from drying facilities to workspaces, while lowering emissions and cutting dependence on external sources.

Alongside its biomass plant, the company also uses over 1 MW of solar power, reinforcing its long-term commitment to clean energy and responsible resource use.

Set against the backdrop of the Italian Alps, this project highlights how local industries can innovate, reduce waste, and protect the surrounding landscape, all while improving efficiency and building a more sustainable future.
