National Bioenergy Success Stories

2024 Motto: Our Shared Steps Towards the Energy Transition

The new EU mandate will address critical issues such as climate change, energy security, and the rising cost of living. In this context, bioenergy is a key ally for the EU’s economy, sustainability, and energy security.

Already today, bioenergy offers a viable alternative to fossil fuels, representing 85% of all renewable heat and a key player in carbon dioxide removal technology thanks to bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS). Bioenergy is also a truly European asset, creating jobs and sustaining the Bioeconomy in rural areas.

These success stories demonstrate the role bioenergy plays already today in the EU’s economy. The European Bioenergy Day aims to share these stories, highlighting how bioenergy supports the local economy, fosters innovation, and boosts the EU’s competitiveness.

The dates on each flag indicate the National Bioenergy Day – the day from which that country could run solely on Bioenergy for the rest of the year!

About the campaign

The European Bioenergy Day campaign is powered by Bioenergy Europe and relayed across Europe by both national and international partners supporting the view that bioenergy is more than a renewable energy source, it is also a reliable path that will lead Europe to achieve its renewable energy transition.
